Infrastructure Independence Assessment

Leave costly defaults behind.

Validus helps organisations review vendor dependencies, move selected workloads to open systems where it makes sense, and support the infrastructure that remains.

Your technology.
Your control.

Every dependency has a cost. Keep the ones that earn it.

Cut recurring costs

Replace license fees and vendor premiums with predictable infrastructure spend.

Keep exits open

Keep your data, roadmap, and migration options under your control.

Move in phases

Run hybrid during transition. Replace only what makes sense.

Own the stack

Use systems you can inspect, change, and support.

Reduce dependence

Build systems for your business, not a vendor roadmap.

Decide what to keep, what to change, and how to run it.

We assess infrastructure dependencies, deliver controlled migrations, build private infrastructure, resolve operational problems, and support the systems that remain.

Decision

Infrastructure Independence

Decide which dependencies still earn their place, which should change, and what greater infrastructure independence would require.

  • Review: platforms, dependencies, and constraints
  • Compare: cost, risk, control, and operating responsibility
  • Decide: what to replace, retain, or investigate next
Delivery

Platform Migration

Move selected platforms and workloads through validation, staged coexistence, planned cutover, and rollback.

  • Plan: sequence work around dependencies and constraints
  • Validate: use pilots, synchronisation, and parallel operation
  • Transition: cut over with fallback intact
Build

Private Infrastructure

Design and build private or hybrid infrastructure with greater control over hosting, data, identity, platforms, and operations.

  • Design: placement across owned, colocated, leased, cloud, and hybrid environments
  • Build: platforms, identity, data, and collaboration systems
  • Support: private or self-hosted AI where the environment supports it
Resilience

Operational Resilience

Diagnose incidents, improve visibility, harden fragile systems, and prove that backup and recovery procedures work.

  • Diagnose: incidents, dependencies, and fault domains
  • Improve: monitoring, hardening, access controls, and runbooks
  • Validate: backup, restore, and recovery readiness
Operations

Managed Infrastructure

Operate and maintain mixed infrastructure through monitoring, patching, upgrades, recovery checks, incident support, and documentation.

  • Maintain: patching, upgrades, hardening, and recovery checks
  • Support: incidents, capacity planning, and operational decisions
  • Document: systems, procedures, and responsibility boundaries

You don't have to migrate everything at once.

We move one service at a time, using parallel systems and rollback where the environment supports it.

Phase one

Start where failure is survivable.

We begin on systems where the rollback path is easy and the learning value is high.

  • Start with non-critical systems
  • Validate performance
  • Build team expertise
  • Maintain rollback capability
Parallel run

Run the existing and replacement systems in parallel.

Critical services stay stable while data, auth, and workloads move in controlled stages.

  • Data synchronisation
  • Unified authentication
  • Shared infrastructure
  • Gradual workload shifting
Decision rule

Replace what earns replacement.

The target is lower risk and lower spend, not ideological purity.

  • Cost-benefit per service
  • Prioritise high-cost systems
  • Strategic vendor relationships
  • Pragmatic approach
Fallback

Cut over only when rollback is rehearsed.

Parallel systems reduce disruption and keep business continuity intact while confidence builds.

  • Low-disruption transitions
  • Comprehensive testing
  • Quick rollback procedures
  • Business continuity first

How we approach migration

1

Assessment & Discovery

We audit your current technology stack, identify dependencies, calculate total cost of ownership, and map migration opportunities.

  • Complete infrastructure inventory
  • Dependency mapping
  • Cost comparison and migration modelling
  • Risk assessment
2

Strategy & Planning

Design a phased migration roadmap with clear milestones, fallback plans, and cohabitation strategies.

  • Technology selection
  • Migration sequencing
  • Cohabitation architecture
  • Timeline & resource planning
3

Proof of Concept

Build working prototypes, validate approaches, and demonstrate capabilities before full commitment.

  • Pilot implementations
  • Performance testing
  • Integration validation
  • Team training
4

Migration & Cohabitation

Execute phased migration with parallel systems, ensuring business continuity throughout the transition.

  • Incremental deployment
  • Data migration & synchronisation
  • Hybrid operation
  • Rollback capabilities
5

Optimisation, Handoff & Support

Fine-tune performance, establish operations processes, and either hand over cleanly or stay on to support the platform.

  • Performance optimisation
  • Documentation & runbooks
  • Team enablement
  • Ongoing support where needed

Technical work and reference material.

Selected operational notes, migration articles, and an internal reference show how we approach infrastructure decisions.

Lower spend

Reduce recurring licensing and platform costs where open alternatives make operational sense.

More control

Keep stronger ownership over architecture, exit options, and future procurement decisions.

Auditability

Use platforms your team can inspect, document, and support without waiting on opaque roadmaps.

Operational leverage

Turn “we can’t move because everything depends on it” into a staged migration plan.

Reference implementation: operational resilience

A production collaboration platform was generating excessive container logs and repeated worker errors. Log rotation, task registration, quieter worker logging, and polling limits were introduced; post-change checks showed healthy services, zero unregistered-task errors, and no recent HTTP 429s.
Internal operations reference. The same method applies to sensitive client environments: inspect, remediate, verify, document.

Start with one clear target, or the systems you need help running.

Tell us what is exposed, costing too much, locking you in, or creating operational risk. We will help you decide what to review or remediate first.

Contact Validus

Tell us what you need help with and enough about the environment to understand where to start.

We will review what you have sent and reply with the appropriate next step.

Please do not include passwords, credentials, keys, or sensitive customer data.

Required: Name, Email, and What do you need help with?

We reply within one business day. If the scope is unclear, a short note is enough.
